Krapela occupies the penthouse of ROW 9, a fifth-floor space above a strip of shops on Jalan Bulungan in Blok M. Its name comes from the surrounding Kramat Pela neighbourhood. Twin designers Rama and Romy Dwiwahyu created a modular layout that can be rearranged for DJ nights, live gigs, film screenings or theatre.
Its core is music. Weekend nights include Klubnacht techno parties, bass music line-ups and label showcases, while the founders draw inspiration from Tanamur, the famous 1970s Jakarta discotheque. The venue puts a strong focus on local and emerging artists.
The crowd is young, stylish and mostly Gen Z, and the night changes with each promoter. Entry is by door charge or table RSVP, with some events ticketed. Go here for Jakarta's current youth club culture rather than polished bottle service.
Line-ups and door prices shift weekly; a club's Instagram is usually the most current source.

Big night planned? Tables at the busier clubs go early on Fridays and Saturdays.
