Colosseum sits inside the 1001 Hotel on Jalan Kunir in the old Kota district of West Jakarta. It opened in November 2013 and became one of the city's best-known mega clubs, ranking in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs in 2018 and 2019.
The main room covers over 1,000 square metres beneath a 16-metre ceiling, with a balcony looking down on the stage and a large kinetic chandelier. Sound is by Funktion-One. Weekend nights lean towards big-room EDM, trance and electro house, and past guests include Steve Aoki, Andrew Rayel and Paul van Dyk.
The club opens Wednesday to Saturday from 9:30pm, usually until 4am. There is a cover charge that includes a drink, rising for international DJ nights, and tables carry minimum spends. Expect a smart casual door policy. It suits groups wanting a large-scale EDM night in the north of the city; check the current programme before you go.
Line-ups and door prices shift weekly; a club's Instagram is usually the most current source.
Big night planned? Tables at the busier clubs go early on Fridays and Saturdays.
