The Iron Fairies spreads over about 10,000 sq ft in TREC's Hive zone, dressed as a fantastical iron foundry, with thousands of hanging butterflies, candle chandeliers and furnace doors. It runs as a bar early in the evening and turns into a late-night venue.
Live bands play current hits on the mezzanine from Wednesday to Saturday. Upstairs, the Butterfly Room has DJs on Friday and Saturday from midnight playing old-school house through to techno, and the venue hosts curated techno nights. Resident Advisor lists it among the city's popular clubs.
It opens from 5pm and stays open until 5am from Wednesday to Sunday, closing at midnight on Tuesdays. Happy hour and a Wednesday–Thursday ladies' night bring an early crowd. It suits groups who want cocktails, a band and a dancefloor under one roof.
