After Dark is the late-night offshoot of The Shady Flamingo, the 1940s Hollywood-themed cocktail den run by the group behind The Shady Pig and The Shady Fox. It sits at Jalan Petitenget No.777 in Kerobokan Kelod, a short walk from the Seminyak and Petitenget club strip, and it is one of very few genuine after-hours spots on the island.
The room is small and dressed in red light, chandeliers and velvet, with a sound system that regulars rate highly. Music is mostly house and techno from resident and guest DJs, and international names have played after their main-club sets. Things get going around 3am and run until about 10am, so most people arrive straight from somewhere else.
Entry is by invitation or reservation only, with no walk-ins, and photos and video are not allowed inside. Book ahead through WhatsApp or the venue's Instagram. It suits people who want to keep dancing after Bali's main clubs shut, rather than a first stop for the night.
Line-ups and door prices shift weekly; a club's Instagram is usually the most current source.
Big night planned? Tables at the busier clubs go early on Fridays and Saturdays.
